Appointments at AMC during COVID-19

In order to comply with regulations we have had to implement changes to keep both patients and staff safe and your surgery COVID free.  It is important you read the information below on what to expect when you arrive and for the duration of your appointment.  This information is updated regularly so we would be grateful if you could read again on the day of your appointment.

You need to be COVID free

In light of the increase in COVID we would ask that if you have (or develop any) symptoms of COVID or been in contact with anyone with symptoms in the last 14 days , that you do not attend the surgery but contact us for advice. For up to date government advice on symptoms, isolating and testing, see https://www.gov.uk/coronavirus

Face Coverings

From the 19th July the Government have announced changes to Covid restrictions.

Please don’t hesitate to contact us with any feedback at abbottswood.wp@nhs.net

Access

We are open as usual even though our doors are closed.

We would like to reassure our patients that we are open; however access to the building has changed.

You can now access reception and dispensary via an intercom system, this ensures access to our patients whilst helping us manage social distancing within the building and keeping everyone safe.

We are seeing patients that need to be seen, but have to follow very strict infection control measures.  To limit your risk of catching Covid-19 please be aware that the doctors and nurses will be keeping your appointment as short as possible.  Please only discuss things that are part of your appointment.  Thank you.

If you contact us with a health query, you will be added to a telephone call list and a clinician will contact you.  If it is felt you need to be seen you will be asked to attend the surgery and will be advised what measures are in place to keep you and our staff safe.

In case of emergency, please dial 999.

We have limited waiting space in the waiting room, therefore we may not be able to admit you if we already have the maximum number of patients waiting.  Please attend your appointment alone unless a guardian/carer is essential.  Reception and Dispensary desks will not be open for other purposes.  Please contact us by telephone if you have any queries.

Please ensure we have your correct contact mobile and that if you attend you:

  • Wear your facemask, or bring your exemption certificate if applicable.
  • Use our hands free equipment to check your temperature on arrival.
  • Practice social distancing at all times when on the surgery premises.

Sanitiser is available throughout the building and we would be grateful if you could use this on arrival and before you leave.

We thank you for your help and co-operation when attending the surgery to keep it COVID free and a safe place to be for both patients and staff.
