Average GP earnings
All GP practices are required to declare the mean net earnings (eg. Average pay) for GPs working to deliver NHS services to patients at each practice. This is required in the interests of the greater public accountability recognising GP pay is ultimately funded from tax paid by the public.
The average pay for GPs working in Abbottswood Medical Centre in the last financial year was £80407 before tax and national insurance. This is for 2 full time GPs, 6 part time GPs and 0 locum GPs who worked in the practice for more than six months.)
| Number of full-time GPs | 2 |
| Number of part-time GPs | 5 |
| Number of locum GPs employed more than 6 months | 0 |
| Total Number of GPs | 7 |
It should be noted that the method for calculating GP earnings is potentially misleading because it takes no account of how much time doctors spend working in the practice, and should not be used to form any judgment about GP earnings, nor to make any comparison with any other practice.
